The History of Citadel Christian Academy

A Church’s Calling

Two and a half years ago, Pastor Cole Calloway-Hodson of Redeemer Church began feeling a strong sense of God’s calling to establish a Christian school to serve the families of Randolph County. Recognizing the importance of wise counsel and strong leadership, he approached Mrs. Lisa Borden, who was then serving as a public school superintendent, to pray about the possibility of helping to start the school.

Though the initial vision seemed far in the future, time passed quickly, and the fall of 2024 marked a turning point. Mrs. Borden, who had continued to pray and consider the project, approached Pastor Cole to revisit the idea of launching the school for the 2025-2026 academic year.

Together, they sought the guidance and support of the church elders, who unanimously affirmed the idea. With this collective endorsement, the planning phase officially began. A diverse seven-member steering committee was formed, bringing together individuals with a variety of backgrounds and experiences to guide the school's development.

On February 9, 2025, Redeemer Church formally announced the launch of the Christian school. The announcement marked the beginning of a search for dedicated teachers and eager students who share the vision of a faith-based educational community.

Excitement is building as Redeemer Church moves forward with this endeavor, driven by the desire to provide Christ-centered education and nurture future generations in Randolph and surround counties.

Statement of Faith

The following are the Beliefs of Citadel Christian Academy - based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

God is the Creator & Ruler of the universe. He has existed eternally in three persons: The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God.
Genesis 1:1, 1:26-27, 3:22, Psalm 90:22, Matthew 28:19, Peter 1:2, 2 Corinthians 13:14

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus lived a sinless human life and gave Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all men by dying on the cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to heaven and will return again to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords!
Matthew 1:22-23, Isaiah 9:6, John 1:1-5, 14:10-30, Hebrews 4:14-15, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, Romans 1:3-4, Acts 1:9-11, 1 Timothy 6:14-15, Titus 2:13

The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every believer from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. The Christian seeks to live under His control daily.
2 Corinthians 3:17, John 6:7-13, 14:16-17, Acts 1:8, 1 Corinthians 2:12, 3:16, Ephesians 1:13, 5:18 Galatians 5:25

The Bible is God’s Word to all people. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the ultimate source of truth for Christian beliefs and living.
2 Timothy 1:13, 3:16-17, 2 Peter 1:20-21, Psalm 119:105,119:160, 12:6, Proverbs 30:5

Humanity is made in the image of God. Although God designed us to have fellowship with Him, we became alienated from God through disobedience. As a result, all human beings are born with a sinful nature and choose to sin against God. We are incapable of regaining a right relationship with God through our own efforts.
Genesis 1:27, Psalm 8:3-6, Isaiah 53:6, Romans 3:23

Salvation is God’s gift to you if you’ll accept it. We can never make up for our sin with self-improvement or good works. It is only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness that you can be saved from sin’s penalty. Eternal life begins the moment you receive Jesus Christ into your life by faith.
Romans 6:23, 5:1, Ephesians 2:8-9, John 14:6, 1:12, Titus 3:5, Galatians 3:26

Because God gives man eternal life through Jesus Christ, the believer is secure in that salvation for eternity. Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by the self-effort of the Christian. It is the grace and eternal power of God the gives this security.
John 10:29, 2 Timothy 1:12, Hebrews 7:25, 10:10-14, 1 Peter 1:3-5

We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as either male or female, and that these two distinct, complementary sexes together reflect the image and nature of God (Gen. 1:26-27). Rejection of one’s biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person.

We believe that the term “marriage” has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture (Gen. 2:18-25). We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other (1 Cor. 6:18; 7:2-5; Heb. 13:4). We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman.
