Requirements of Candidates for Faculty and Staff

Candidates for faculty and staff positions at Citadel Christian Academy must:
  • Exemplify and articulate a saving and growing relationship with Christ. Be a person of Christian love, faith, truthfulness and virtue.
  • Be an active member in a local church.
  • Have a working knowledge of the scriptures, especially in regard to families, marriage, children, and authority.
  • Have a belief in and adherence to traditional biblical morality in sexual matters, including reserving sexual relations to marriage between a man and a woman, refraining from homosexuality, etc.
  • Agree to live in accordance with the Faculty and Staff Code of Conduct.
The teacher contracts with the Board of Directors in consultation with the Head of School for a one-year period. Any future contract is dependent upon the performance and evaluation of the teacher during the previous year subject to the recommendation of the administration to the Board of Trustees.

Additional Qualifications of Faculty and Staff

All Redeemer faculty and staff must meet the following spiritual qualifications:
  • Demonstrate familiarity with the basic components of Christian education.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to be trained in Christian educational methods.
  • Be in agreement with the Citadel Christian Academy Mission, Philosophy, Distinctives, and Statement of Faith.
  • Be passionate about educating children in a Christian environment, and about the subject to be taught.
  • Be experienced in teaching children.
  • Be committed to academic excellence.
  • Be committed to personal life-long learning.
  • Training and previous experience (paid or unpaid) in the applicable area(s)
  • Good communication abilities (written and oral)
  • Personal and social skills that would foster good relations with children and adults
  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate field(s) (in most cases, but exceptions may be made).
  • Non-Certified teachers must submit an annual plan to the Head of School to show professional staff development of at least twenty clock hours during each year. (Approved activities may include but are not limited to coursework, seminars, conferences, mentoring, book study and on-line classes.)
